MP5056 Hot Swap Voltage Controllers

Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) MP5056 Hot Swap Voltage Controllers are designed to protect circuitry on its output from transients on its input. These controllers' maximum output load is current-limited using a sense FET topology. The MP5056 voltage controllers include an I_MON option that produces a voltage proportional to the current flowing through the power device. These voltage controllers protection features include current-limit protection, thermal shutdown, damaged MOSFET detection, and Under-Voltage Lockout protection (UVLO). The MP5056 controllers' total short-circuit response time is about 200ns. These controllers are available in a QFN-22 (3mm x 5mm) package. The MP5056 devices are ideal for voltage controllers and are suitable for applications such as hot swaps, home appliances, PC cards, and storage devices.

LM5060 High-Side Protection Controllers

Texas Instruments LM5060 High-Side Protection Controllers with Low Quiescent Current offers intelligent control of a high-side N-channel MOSFET during normal on/off transitions and fault conditions. The constant rise time of the output voltage results from the inrush current control. Both an Input UVLO (with hysteresis) and a programmable input OVP are provided, with an enable input offering a remote on or off control. The initial start-up V_GS fault detection delay time, the transition V_DS fault detection delay time, and the continuous over-current V_DS fault detection delay time is programmed from a single capacitor. The MOSFET is latched off until either the enable input, or the UVLO input is toggled low and then high when a detected fault condition persists longer than the allowed fault delay time.
