Bosch's BME690 Air Quality Sensor, Now Available at Mouser, Provides Environmental Sensing with Advanced AI

The four-in-one MEMS sensor effectively detects volatile organic compounds (VOCs), volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs), and other gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The BME690 sensor can also be used for breath analysis and to reduce food waste through early spoilage detection. The Bosch BME690 air quality sensor, now available at Mouser, simultaneously measures air pressure, gas, humidity, and temperature. The BME690 sensor is an advanced version of the BME688 and BME680 devices optimized for use in environments with high levels of condensation. The BME690 sensor offers a simple drop-in upgrade, maintaining pin compatibility and the same dimensions (3 x 3 x 0.93 mm3) as the previous models.

The BME690 sensor reduces power consumption by up to 50% compared to previous generations, making it ideal for wearables, asset tracking, and other battery-powered applications. The BME690 air quality sensor is supported by the BME690 Shuttle Board, which is available to order from Mouser. Used in conjunction with the Bosch Application Board 3.x, the shuttle board enables evaluation of the signal outputs provided by the sensor itself or additional outputs generated by the BSEC Library for the sensor. The shuttle board allows easy access to the sensor pins via a simple socket and can be directly plugged into the Application Board 3.x.
